How Therapy can help
As you may already know, we tend to seek out therapy at those times in our life when we are experiencing some form of distress. What that distress may look like will vary between individuals, and how you, your friends, family or even professionals may name or label that distress may also vary considerably.
What I can offer is first and foremost the opportunity to be with another human being as you face these challenges. I will listen to you and together we will seek to better understand your current difficulties; your fears and hopes, your disappointments and pain, your losses and hurts.
Alongside developing a shared understanding of your difficulties, we will work together with a focus on making changes that are both helpful and personally meaningful to you in the present day
Adult Psychotherapy (Individual Therapy - Face to Face)
I am trained in a range of evidence based talking therapies including Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Schema Therapy. These therapies have been shown to be effective for a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety and panic difficulties, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), PTSD/Trauma and Depression.
Therapy will be a collaborative process and sessions usually take place on a weekly basis over a number of weeks and months. Frequency and duration of therapy will depend on the nature of your difficulties and will be in keeping with your own hopes and expectations for therapy. Therapy sessions are delivered from my therapy room in a central location at the heart of Mid Ulster in Magherafelt which provides a safe, comfortable and convenient space for us to work together.
What I can offer you
Remote Therapy - Online/Telephone
Remote therapy can provide a flexible and more workable option for many clients whose circumstances or even the nature of their difficulties themselves can make face to face therapy inaccessible. As with face to face therapy, sessions are usually offered on a weekly basis and will be delivered by either zoom or by telephone. It is often possible for clients to attend remote therapy from any location across the UK and Ireland, and in some cases from international locations.
Walk and Talk Therapy / Eco Therapy
Sitting indoors on a chair or in front of a computer screen isn't the only place psychotherapy can be delivered. For many of us, allowing nature and the world around us to be a companion in the therapy journey is not only immeasurably helpful, but essential. Therapy can therefore be modified to take place in the outdoors at a suitable location.
Fees
I am fully aware that private therapy is more affordable for some people than for others. With this in mind, I make use of a sliding scale (see below) in the setting of fees. This helps make therapy more accessible and sustainable for us all.
Initial Assessment (90mins) £60.00 - £100.00*
Follow up/Review Appointments ( 1hr) - £45.00- £75.00*
*Exact fee will be agreed before therapy commences and will aim to reflect your personal circumstances and what is affordable.
